On completion of this tutorial, you will be able to recognise the main hardware parts of a PC (Personal Computer).
The main box or chassis or system unit of your PC contains the electronics of the computer, including the microprocessor known as CPU. It also contains a device called the hard disk drive (HDD) which stores billions of characters of information within the computer.
The most common input device is the keyboard and the most common output device is the display monitor. Other devices are called peripherals which may be connected to the PC.
A basic PC package consists (generally speaking) of
the following components:

- Optical Drive (CD-ROM, DVD R/RW)
- Floppy Drive
- Chassis (case-Midi tower, Slim tower-normally includes power supply)
- Graphic Card (Video card)
- Audio Card (Sound card)
- Keyboard
- Mouse
- Monitor
- Speakers
- Microphone (head-set)
- Web Camera
- Operating System (OS - Windows XP, Vista, 7)
- Modem (dialup Internet)
- Network LAN (connection to other PCs-Broadband Internet)
- Utilities (anti-virus software)
- Multifunction (MFC) Printer (all in one printer-copier-scanner)
